The die-cast rod holder itself actually opens up when the rod is pulled backwards 3" or more. The Down-East rod holders are adjustable to any horizontal or vertical position and made of high-strength, non-rusting alloy castings treated to resist corrosion. The Salty S-10 rod holder is great for heavy fishing. Holds up to 1-3/8" diameter rod including rods with triggers or pistol grip. Great for fish up to 85 lbs and holds up to 100 lbs test line.
